Dogs for service of people with

disabilities

A dog can be trained to assist people with disabilities. Some of these wonderful dogs can be trained by the owner or by an organization. These dogs are trained 1 to 2 hours a day over a 6 month time period.

Training the dog begins when it is a puppy.It takes time and a lot of patience.Volunteers are used to breed the puppies that are going to be trained for this wonderful job of the service animal.

A business or organization serving the public must allow the service dog to come in with it's owner by law. This includes restaruants,movies,stores,hotels,parks,zoo,health clubs,hospitals and more.It is a good idea for a service dog to wear a vest. This shows people that he is not just any pet but a service dog.

Hearing Service Dog

This dog is trained to hear for the hearing disabled . The person may be totally or particle deaf, When a microwave,phone,doorbell,or alarm rings the dog will alert it's owner . They let know about it by pushing or pulling it's owner.a little.

Guide Service Dog

The guide dog is the eyes of the blind or visually impaired owner.

Mobility Assistance Service Dog

These great dogs help people walk and keep their balance. They may help their owner by picking up items such as dropped keys or cellphones.They can also assist in opening and closing doors..Another task is walking along side of a wheelchair.

Take Care of Service Dog

The Service dog is trained to take care of it's owner so the owner must take care of their dog in return. The dog needs food,water,shelter,excerise and medical care.The Service dog will be loving and loyal to their partner.

Getting A Service Dog

There are organizations that can be contracted to apply for a service dog. They can be found on the web or in the yellow pages. Also there is help for training your own dog.A statement from a doctor saying a dog is needed is usually required.
