Elvis
Elvis Arron Presley called the "KIng" of Rock N Roll.
Elvis was born in small house in Tupelo,Mississippi. His mother "Gladys" and Father "Vernon" went to the Pentecostal Church of God. There Elvis' pastor taught Elvis how to strum on a guitar. The family moved into a two bedroom apartment in 1949.
Elvis wanted to record a song for his mother's birthday present. He went into town to the Sun Studios and paid $2.00 to record two songs"My Happiness". and "When Your Heartaches Begin" The receptionist who though it really good played it for the manager. The owner of Sun Studios, Sam Phillips, got him to record"That's All Right". July 5,1954. Elvis was just 18 at the time.
Elvis and his parent moved into a much bigger house. His career took off.and three years later ,1957,he found "Graceland". The house and property was purchased for $100,000.Elvis loved his home and decorated in his own quirky style. On the ceiling in the jungle themed den he had green shag carpet installed. The carpet was meant to improve the acoustics. The huge house contains 23 rooms.
Elvis went into the army boot camp at Killeen ,Texas and was then stationed in Germany. while in Germany he met Priscilla age 15 ,who was destined to be his future bride. Before he came home he got her father's permission to marry her. After he and Priscilla married they had a beautiful baby girl together Lisa Marie.
Elvis got into the movies in the 50's.The first Elvis' movie I saw was "Jailhouse Rock". That did it I have been a true Elvis fan.ever since.
Some of Elvis movies:
Love Me Tender 1956
A western drama love story-Elvis was part Indian and enjoyed being in westerns in westerns
Loving You 1957

King Creole 1958
A story of a guy named Danny Fisher who went to work in a nightclub to help support his father. He got the opportunity to perform one night. Another club owner and crime boss wants him to work for him. Danny refuses and the bad guys come after him..
G.I. Blues 1960
A bunch of army buddies try to raise money for opening a nightclub. They bet Elvis he can't spend the night with a club singer and dancer.

This was Elvis' most successful movie. It made more than 5 million dollars for MGM
Charro 1969
Elvis didn't sing in this movie. One of Elvis favorite movies. He said it was his best at a cast party. Elvis plays Jess Wade accused of stealing falsely of stealing a Mexican cannon. from revolutionary forces.

I was in Germany at a skating rank when someone showed me a girl across the rank from me and said it was Priscilla. We were there at the same time and she and I were about the same age.
Her Dad was stationed in Frankfurt and my Dad was stationed in Karlruhe.
Enjoyed your hub.
Elvis is (My) King forever...thanks for the memories!

Thanks for this interesting Hub about the King of Rock! When I just started high school he was very popular here and I seemed to hear him all the time.
I find it so interesting, and ironic, that the poster for a movie called "King Creole" shows two white people! Anyway, that is a reflection of the time it was released, I guess.
Love and peace
Tony
