Florida Strawberry Plants

I love the strawberry fruit because it is so delicious and good for you..Strawberries contain Vitamin C and antitoxidents. Fresh strawberries from Florida are red, ripe and juicy. They are America's favorite fruit.

More than 5,000 strawberry plants are planted in this area. The strawberry plants that are recommended to grow in Florida are"Camarosa",Sweet Charlie",and "Festival". When the planted strawberries are properly tended each plant should produce 1 to 2 pints of strawberries per season.

I saw some nice plants at the flea market the other day with 8 or nine berries already on them.There were many blooms which fall off when the berries form on the plant.The strawberry plants have shoots that can be cut off and planted to make another strawberry plant.

Strawberries can also be grown inside planted in a strawberry pot.This pot has holes where the plants hang out. It is designed for proper drainage. Easy to Rotate the pot allows for even growing.

The best already picked strawberries are brought locally from a farm,farmers market or a produce stand, of course you can buy them at your local supermarket too.After you get them home be sure to refrigerate. Store with the strawberry cap on. Wait until your ready to eat them and remove the cap.This will keep them from going bad.

For 3 quarts of strawberries melt 8 ounces of milk chocolate and 8 ounces semi sweet chocolate chips on very low heat.Dip the strawberries into the chocolate then place them on a pan greased or lined with wax paper. Put them in the refrigerator. Chill until the chocolate has hardened. Enjoy your treat!

My Strawberry Shortcake Recipe

Cut up some fresh strawberries in a bowl,then add a cup of sugar per quart. Let the berries soak in the bowl for an hour they will make a juicy syrup. Using a packaged vanilla pound cake, Slice the cake and put on a saucer on top place the strawberries.with some of the syrup. Spoon cool whip on top. Delicious!

Freezer Jam

Love this easy jam! Great on toast!

4 cups halved strawberries

4 cups sugar

3/4 cup water

1 package powdered pectin

Mash up strawberries with a potato masher in a large bowl put add in sugar and stir together.in thre large bowl. Let stand for about 10 min.Then Mix stawberries mixture,pectin and water in a quart saucepan heat stirring until pectin blends in about 1 minute..Put in the bowl and let stand for 10 mintues. Immediately put this mixture in freezer containers leaveing 1/2 inch headspace. Cover freeze up to 6 months or refrigerate up to 3 weeks.

Strawberries cut up with sugar on top are good to eat. I put them in my milk and cereal. They make the cereal taste great.Or eat them plain they are naturally sweet and juicy..

Strawberry Festival

There is a great event called the Strawberry Festival every year.with free entertainment after you buy an entrance ticket. There are bluegrass music groups and orchestra's playing, All kinds of Strawberry desserts can be purchased under the tents. The festival started in the 1930's by the Loin's Club of Plant City ,to celebrate the harvest of the beautiful strawberry fruit, The 2010 Festive days are March 4-14Th.

I went to the flea market oh no! all the strawberry plants in hanging baskets were sold out. I was going to buy a couple more because they were reasonably priced. Selling for $4.99 I guess they sold fast.
