Cold Weather in Florida

In Florida the weather has seen a record cold.for many days..Temperatures went down into the 40's and even 30's some nights. Manatees can go into shock  if the water is too cold. Some Manatee's have been taken to special medical stations in Indian Harbour and Satillete Beach to nurse

.The manatee's ,Mothers and even baby manatee's are huddled up at a closed for remodeling power plant owned by Florida Power and Light .This plant  is on Florida's Intercoastal Waterway. The FPL put  a special heating system in the water to keep the water temperature balmy. Water coming out is at 92 degrees.

These Manatee can be viewed from the dock.. There are about 400 of them. Some of the Manatee that surfaced and were  spotted weighted 3,000 lbs. A plan is in effect to build a special veiwing place for visitors in the future.

Tampa Electric Company has a canal where springs are naturally fed with warm water, There are more than 200 manatee's assembled there.
