There is a lot of fun to be had in Daytona Beach, Florida. I have been there many times. The beach at Daytona Beach is awesome. You will love the sandy white beach. You are allowed to drive down on the beach in your car from sunrise to sunset . That is if the tide is out and weather conditions are good.. You aren't allowed to do this on very many other beaches.

If you surf there are some great surfing places, A really good area for waves is Ponce Inlet. There are surfing schools at the beach area. Burn Board sports L.L.C.offers lesson for surfing,board sailing, and paddle boarding. The amazing Sea Turtle Season at the Daytona Beach is from May 15-October 31.The Green turtles come out the surf at night laying their eggs on the beach. When the babies hatch 2 months later it is exciting to watch them crawl into the surf. These turtles are highly protected by the government. There is no parking or driving west of the dune convervation zone.

An historical attraction and a museum is the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. It is over 100 years old. The Lighthouse is 175 feet tall. It is the tallest lighthouse in the state of Florida. You can climb up to the top and look out over the area for miles at the view.

To learn all about the history of Daytona Beach,Florida the Halifax Museum is the place to go. The Museum is located at 252 South Beach Street. On exhibit are articfacts of the Native American Indians,Spanish and British colonial times.

For the golfing person there are quite a few golf courses in Daytona Beach. The Daytona Beach Golf Course was designed in 1922.

Try Bubba Gump's which is my favorite spot. A large variety of dishes on the menu. I like the Dumb Luck Coconut Shrimp. Bubba Gumb's is located at 250 North Atlanta Ave.

For fine dining seafood and chicken or sandwiches and burgers if you perfer on the beach. With A nice scenic view of the beach.

Daytona International Speedway Daytona, Florida

Daytona International speedway first opened in 1959. At the 1st race there were 40,000 fans.The Daytona 500 Experience has a new attraction. Jamie McMurray's Bass Pro Shop car following his win in the 52 th Daytona 500 Race. Just outside stands Dale Earnhardt's statue on the Champions Walk of Fame.

Speedway Being Repaved

 

The Daytona International Speedway is being repaved. This will be only the 2nd time in it's history the drivers will race on NEW asphalt. Fans can sit in the grandstands for free and watch the construction. A one time offer racing fans who purchase tickets for the Daytona 500 Race between August 2-August 8 will receive a FREE PIECE OF THE OLD ASPHALT.
